How to be better at cooking

I used to be very bad at cooking that I refuse to cook at home because the family may not eat what I cooked. But since I start living in my university’s hostel and in my own rented house now, I need to cook foods that I want to eat rather than going to restaurants minus when I am so lazy to cook.

My sister is a good cook. She can turn some yucky raw food into yummy dish. She asked me before, “what do you need when you cook?” Well, obviously I answered RAW INGREDIENTS FOR YOU TO COOK. She say NO. You need determination to make the food good. I kindda argued with her because I insist you need something to cook to produce food to eat.

So now, everytime I cook I will start to have this imagination of how it will tastes. And with experience and passion your cooking will taste good even it is your first time doing it.

Now, let me share my 1st time doing mashed potato. Simple food right? Baby steps guys..baby steps..

Serves 3

Ingredients:

2 large potato skinned and slice thinly, 1cup milk, 1 teaspoon butter, blackpaper

First, boil together plain water and the potato. I slice it thinly so it will be cooked softly faster. Then remove the leftover water. Continue to boil the potato with milk until the milk is reduce. Then mashed potato until you will get a soft consistency with little milk left. Secret ingredient. One small teaspoon of chicken stock. Mix it together and add the butter. Let the butter melt and by this time you should get a soft mashed potato that you imagined earlier. Add the blackpaper and mix it all together. For me, I add a little bit of cheese. I choose Cheesedale. Maybe just half slice of less. And it’s done!! It’s so easy and better than buying the packet mashed potato sold in shops.

Ok..happy trying friends!!
